சிபிஐ அதிகாரி பணியைத் தன்னுடைய கனவாக வைத்திருக்கும் ஒருவனுக்கு அத்துறையில் நிகழும் ஊழல் காரணமாக அந்த வாய்ப்பு தரப்படுவதில்லை. எனவே தானே ஒரு போலி அதிகாரியாக மாறுகிறான். சோதனை என்கிற பெயரில் ஊழல்வாதிகளிடமிருந்து பணத்தைக் கொள்ளையடித்து நல்லவர்களுக்கு தருகிறான்.

Thaanaa Serndha Koottam is an action comedy heist movie which takes place in 1987.  Iniyan, an educated youth from a humble background fails to join the Central Bureau of Intelligence (CBI) due to the wrath of a corrupt official. The story is about how he executes bold heists to loot corrupted people, with his own gang of con artists posing as CBI and Income Tax Officers.
