அனாதையான சுந்தரம்(ஜெய் சங்கர்) டாக்டருக்கு படித்து முடித்து ஒரு கிராமத்திற்கு சேவை செய்ய வருகிறார்.அவர் இருக்கும் வீட்டின் உரிமையாளர் (எம்.என்.ராஜம்) செய்தும் அராஜகங்களை பார்த்து திகைக்கிறார்.எம்.என்.ராஜம் மாற்றாள் மகள் மற்றும் விதவையான புஷ்பலதாவையும் அவர் குழந்தைகளையும் மற்றும் தன் மனநலம் சரியில்லாத தம்பி சோ-வுக்கு லட்சுமி(ஜெயலலிதா) கொடுமைப் படுத்துவதை பார்த்து ஜெய் சங்கர் கவலைப்படும் வேளையில்,உருவ ஒற்றுமையுள்ள ராணி(ஜெயலலிதா) வந்து அவர்களுக்கு படம் புகட்டுகிறார்.

Sundaram is indebted to his friend who was instrumental in him becoming a doctor. When the friend dies, his wife and children are left at the mercy of her cruel step-mother,Mangamma. Sundaram decides to help her and others in the house with help of Rani.
