Nayagi is a family drama serial.  The story revolves around  three women, Ananthi, a sweet natured girl who takes life in her stride, Vasanthi, the lady of an empire, but a bird in a gilded cage and Sargunam, a formidable woman who has risen amidst all put-downs.
